Golden tops of the Himalayas

Nepal, The Himalayas, Lang tang, March 2017

I shot this "Golden tops of the Himalayas" early morning just at sunrise. Beautiful reflection of the ice shining the sunbeams on the opposite mountain tops.

Shot during sunrise. Left is the top of the mountain in snow, lit up by the sun that is coming up from the west. The moon is highlighted by the sun.

I call it Moonlanding.

To me this image says National Park. You have the river, the rocks, the colors of the cold mountain water, the trees, inside the valley and in the background the high mountains of the himalayas.

Trek into the Storm.

1 of my favorites. Take a close look to spot the flock of birds. See my porter called Karma, walking in front of me with our bags.

The path is perfectly aligned towards the stormy clouds.

Nepali Mule

Nepali Mule

Okay, you would think a Mule is a cute animal, like a horse, that you can tap on the head and be nice to. Well Nepali Mule’s are a bit different. They walk for many many miles a day and walk around with quit some weight.

They don’t really care about you, the hiker, that also has to walk on that narrow road actually just wide enough for 1 mule.

In this particular picture, I was pushed inside of the bushes a couple of seconds later, because the mules just wanted to walk right through me. Lesson learned!

A Buda remains

A Buda remains

Although completely destroyed, the few people still living in this area of the Lang Tang trek, visit the remains of the temple and honor their Buda

Deep Space village

Deep Space village

Nepal, 2017.

A village in the mountains of the Himalaya. These so called tea-houses can be found in many places, and are the only place to get a little sleep during hiking in the incredible mountains of nepal.

Be sure to dress up warm though during the night, because these houses are not isolated, and its like sleeping outside with -20 celcius

Forgotten Temple

Forgotten Temple

On the tops of the Nagthali mountains, you have 1 of the best views on the Lang tang peak, the Lang Tank Lirung. Due to a devastating earthquake, the temples remains are scattered around and ice is formed on the interion or the old temple, showing you how cold it gets during the night.

Riding the Milkywaves

Riding the Milkywaves

On a very bright night in the Himalayas ( Langtang Trek) I witnessed this amazing cloud that came rolling of from the mountain top on the right side.

Walking the Langtang trek has been an amazing adventure, meeting new friends, like-wise minded people, and seeing all the beauty that Earth has to offer us.

A side note has to be made for the people that live in this Valley: 180 people lost their lives at the 2015 Earthquake and many hikers died aswel. This is the other side of mother-earth.

Purple Nightsky over the Langtang Valley

The first evening in the Himalayas at 3800 meters high, we had the most pure, crisp evening you can hope for.

The stars where visible with the eye and I had to do almost nothing to make you see the milky way.

Temple Ruin

Temple Ruin

After the earthquake in the Langtang Valley in 2015, this temple got shaken up pretty bad and all that is left is some wooden pillars, a buddha and the outlining of the temple.

The sky is very clear and bright blue, because at around 05:00 in the morning, the sun was already coming up toward the horizon. You can still see the milky way and some stars.
